A Cosy Start To The Year

We’re already eight weeks into the new year so, as way of documenting the little things in life, here are a few (but not all) of the nice things from January:

  1. Doing at least 10 minutes of yoga every day. I really feel that tuning into my breath has helped with anxiety, letting things go and being more present. A lot of the time it was hard to get onto the mat and on two occasions I did some stretching in bed as I had no energy but I’m glad I stayed committed to it. I’ve had a few days off as the start of February has been quite busy and tiring for me but I look forward to continuing a regular practice.

  2. Jekyll and Hyde at the Lyceum Theatre.

  3. Spa day with my sister at Radisson Blu, Edinburgh. EXACTLY what my cold little body was in need of.

  4. Winter walks: Returning to a section of the Fife Coastal Path we like and a sunset Pentlands stroll to see how my lungs fared.

  5. I managed a ten minute run! Taking it very, very easy and trying to keep my body moving while also resting as much as possible. It’s a really tricky balance.

  6. Reading. I read The Great Gatsby and am currently reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and also How To Fail by Elizabeth Day

  7. Studio refresh: Tidying up the studio and putting down layers for new artworks. Going gently and without judgement and delving further into abstraction with wild and free mark making. It feels really great to take things at my own pace and work to my own rhythm and whims.

  8. Takeaway pizza from RogueBros, South Queensferry. So, so good!
