Waiting for spring…
What a busy few months!
Running Around
With the lighter evenings, I’ve been going running again. It has been quite tricky to start from scratch and tentatively walk (or run) the line of pushing myself versus overdoing it. I’m mostly pain free these days and I have the motivation to get outside so I’m taking that as a good sign. At present, I can run for about 20 minutes at a fast (for current me) pace, or 45 minutes at a slower pace. Inclines are still tough.
My goal for this year is to run a 25 minute 5k and be able to run up to a half marathon. I miss running across Edinburgh and taking in all the sights on an evening run, from the start of sunset at Portobello beach to the crags and Arthur’s Seat as the sun dips below the horizon before climbing Calton Hill to chase the last of the golden hues. Exquisite.
Saying Goodbye to Exhibitions
On to lovely artsy things and I took down my exhibition back in February at DoubleTree Hilton in Edinburgh. It was such a nice experience to see paintings that take up so much space in my flat, take up not very much space in a spacious restaurant. I especially liked how my yellow painting, Golden Hour, made a bold statement against the dark interior.
Friends
From Fyrish in the Scottish Highlands to Lake Windermere in Kendal, I’ve relished visiting friends and seeing their children grow and spending time in nature. It’s also so nice to have time away for a bit of perspective on things.
Planting seeds
The time of year is again upon us where I very enthusiastically plant far too many tomato seeds and see which ones survive my various wacky potting setups and different locations in the flat. The seedlings have been a little slow to grow so far this year, despite planting them earlier than last year. We’ve not had many sunny days though so I think we’ve just got to take what we’re given.
