Card of the week: Dahlia Heart
Every week, I highlight one of my card designs and discount it in my Etsy shop and website.
Dahlia Heart is a beautiful card, ready to send to your love for Valentine’s day, an anniversary or with a message of appreciation written inside and for a friend or family member.
A little different to my usual painted cards, this design features petals from one of my favourite flowers, dahlias, grown in my parents’ garden, and arranged in a heart shape on top of a painted canvas background.
It has a beautiful simplicity and minimalist feel, as well as immortalising one of the many beautiful flowers grown in my parents garden. Reflecting on this design and process has sparked ideas to experiment more in this way…
You can see below a few photos of some of the flowers grown in my parents’ garden. It is always a pleasure to visit and watch the garden shift and sway in response to the seasons. Its persistence over the years and vibrancy in the spring and summer months is nothing short of magical and I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up surrounded by such beauty, sitting alongside homegrown vegetables that fed the whole family.
