January Research: From the Ochils to Goswick Sands

From a ten-mile walk in the Ochils via Tillicoultry and Dollar with my partner (who prepares the best sandwiches for our hikes), followed by a sunrise climb up Arthur’s seat and a trip to see my parents in Northumberland (striding along Cocklawburn, Cheswick and Goswick sands), I feel so grateful to be able to experience these spaces with the people I love.

The last two photos are from today’s run up Arthur’s seat at sunset (4:45pm). It was so windy that it was difficult to find my balance at the top but I’m thankful to experience this city under so many guises and it was a much needed break from working at the computer all day!

Having absorbed the elements of these landscapes and the movement, texture and energy that they hold, I’m looking forward to continuing my ongoing experimentation with translating them on canvas.

Here’s to more sunshine and dry weather in February and less of the stormy stuff!
