Scotland by Artists

A love letter to

dolerite highs, cobbled lows

charming Auld Reekie

My work over the past months has dealt with the relationship we have with our surroundings. I’ve found particular interest in observing my emotions over the course of this year whilst treading the same rocky paths of the Salisbury Crags which hug Arthur’s Seat here in Edinburgh.

I think back to coming here as a child, and more recently being caught in torrential rain and hysterically laughing whilst toads jump around my feet. Or watching couples lean into one another as the sun slips into a pool of otherworldly colours and all we have is this moment.

I’m sharing with you this video as part of E City and Alba Media’s Scotland By Artists project which looks at artists living in Scotland and how this influences and informs our work.

It is here I lean on the words of author Alexander McCall Smith,

This is a city of shifting light, of changing skies, of sudden vistas. A city so beautiful it breaks the heart again and again.”

I hope you enjoy this video, truly a work of art in its own right.
