Aurora, 38x38cm
Aurora is a vibrant landscape painted in pink and green tones on a 38x38cm stretched linen canvas.
I’ve had this canvas for several years and have built up lots of layers of colour and texture over time but could never settle on a finished piece…until now.
The bright pink hues in this work reflect the wild skies we may see at sunset, or indeed during the aurora borealis, also known as the northern lights. Scroll along to see photos from my visit to the Cairngorms in February where I was so lucky to find myself underneath this magnificent light phenomenon. We watched pillars of green light shoot into the sky and caught four shooting stars that evening.
Utter magic.
Just another reason I’m grateful to live in Scotland. (Tap water and being able to get married anywhere also make the shortlist ;)).
Aurora also has 4cm deep painted edges, making the painting stand out without the need for a frame. It is protected with a gloss varnish to prevent damage from UV and dust and dirt.
